Your colours. Your fit. Your strawberry sweater.
Big strawberries, a soft mohair halo, and that lovely feeling of wearing something you made yourself. Knit the playful sweater you keep coming back to—in the colours and length you want to wear.

Intermediate. You will work flat and in the round, follow colourwork charts, shape the neckline and armholes with increases, pick up sleeve stitches, and work decreases and ribbing.
If fruit colourwork is new to you, practise the small chart on a swatch first. This is a project to settle into, with shaping and colour changes to keep track of.
XS / S / M / L / XL · Finished chest: 94 / 100 / 107 / 118 / 123 cm. The pattern recommends about 10 cm of positive ease.
Strawberry body length: 47 / 49 / 51 / 53 / 55 cm. Choose by finished measurements, then check the size-specific gauge before casting on.
For the strawberry version in XS / S / M / L / XL: Fluff Mohair main colour 5 / 6 / 6 / 7 / 7 balls; fruit colour 2 / 2 / 2 / 2 / 3 balls; plus 1 ball each for stems and dots.
Main needles: 5 / 5.5 / 6 / 6.5 / 7 mm, according to size and gauge. You will also need smaller needles for ribbing and the neckband, circular needles in 40 and 60 cm lengths, and double-pointed needles. Full size-by-size details are below.

Make it yours
Pink with bright red strawberries? A softer background with a different contrast? Choose the combination you will reach for, then let those oversized fruit motifs do the talking.
The pattern includes a lemon version too, so your next sweater can have a completely different feel. Both use a relaxed shape, a folded neckband and a split ribbed hem that sits longer at the back.

Shape the upper front and back flat, then join the body to work in the round. Pick up the sleeves and knit down towards the cuffs. Finish with the folded neckband.
The original shape is short and relaxed. Try it on before the ribbing and adjust the body or sleeves. For an extra fruit repeat, the pattern allows an additional ball each of main and fruit colour.
Colourwork, one motif at a time
The strawberry chart is just 13 stitches wide and 16 rows tall. Practise it on a small swatch so you can get used to the colour changes—and check your tension—before working it into the sweater.
The front diagram shows how the motifs sit alongside the neckline and armhole shaping. For the tiny seed details, you can embroider the dots afterwards instead of changing colour for every one.
You will still need to manage your colourwork tension and yarn floats. The swatch is a useful first step, especially with a fluffy yarn.
The pattern recommends about 10 cm of room around the chest. Compare the finished measurements with a sweater you love wearing.
XS 94 · S 100 · M 107 · L 118 · XL 123 cm
For example, a 96 cm bust with size M gives about 11 cm of ease. These are finished garment measurements, not body measurements.
Body: 47 / 49 / 51 / 53 / 55 cm.
Sleeves: 49 / 50 / 51 / 52 / 53 cm.
Measurements follow XS / S / M / L / XL. Adjust the length before the ribbing.
This pattern uses different needle sizes and gauges to achieve XS–XL. Swatch the fruit chart, not only plain stocking stitch.
Too many stitches in 10 cm makes the garment smaller. Adjust your needles until you match the gauge for your chosen size.
Quantities below are for the specified Fluff Mohair. All sequences follow XS / S / M / L / XL.
Main: 5 / 6 / 6 / 7 / 7 balls
Fruit: 2 / 2 / 2 / 2 / 3 balls
Stems: 1 ball each size

Total: 9 / 10 / 10 / 11 / 12 balls. For extra length, allow one more ball each of main and fruit colour.

Smaller needles: XS 4.5 & 4 mm; S 5 & 4.5 mm; M 5.5 & 4.5 mm; L and XL 5.5 & 5 mm.
Use 40 and 60 cm circular needles and double-pointed needles as directed. Needle sizes are starting points; match your gauge.

Work the swatch in the fruit pattern. Check tension before committing your yarn to the full sweater.
Before you cast on
Colourwork, yarn choices and finishing—answered before you cast on.
Ask us a questionIt is best suited to intermediate knitters who are comfortable with shaping, picking up stitches and knitting both flat and in the round. If colourwork is new, begin with the fruit-chart swatch so you can practise tension and handling the yarns.
Yes. The lemon chart is included in the same PDF. It uses main, fruit and stem colours, without the separate dot colour. Allow main colour 5 / 6 / 6 / 7 / 7 balls, fruit 2 / 2 / 2 / 2 / 3 balls, and 1 stem-colour ball for XS / S / M / L / XL.
Lemon body lengths are 50 / 52 / 54 / 56 / 58 cm, with sleeves 51 / 52 / 53 / 54 / 55 cm.
The pattern specifies Fluff Mohair and also mentions Hip Mohair held four strands together. A different fluffy yarn needs a careful gauge check; ball counts do not translate directly between brands. Compare the yarn specifications before buying or substituting.
The sleeves are picked up from the body and worked downwards, rather than knitted separately and sewn on. You will still weave in ends and finish the folded neckband; the pattern includes options for securing that edge.
